Everyone is an individual.
People always use a few words to divide the type of things in the collective name to define the most real-life unit.
There are commonalities among people, but there are also individual differences. People are capable of empathy, but in fact, “there is no real empathy.” Everyone has their own different experiences, but even with the same experiences, different people will have different feelings and thoughts. This is the individual difference between people. One is commonality, the other is individuality, and both exist.
Even though we all enjoy the rich material and spiritual harmony and happiness of this world, each of us is playing his own stage play, and each of us is looking for his own life and goals. This is the uniqueness of living things.
While maintaining self-dependence, one can also establish an interdependence with others (and the outside world other than the “self”). In my opinion, only this can be called the integrity of personality in the true sense, and only in order to maintain self-independence when dealing with the collective.
When we filled out the PSAT form, I found something in the gender column that was “another.” I did some research on this.
What’s the Difference between sex and gender？
“Sex” tends to refer to biological concepts of gender, while “gender” tends to refer to cultural and social concepts of gender. Gender includes a type of person called Transgender.
Transgender people are a group of people in our society who have been ignored and discriminated against for a long time. They are born male or female and think they should be of a different sex. And they tend to be misunderstood and discriminated against.
I hope the public does not misunderstand that transgender people are a group of “no men or women.” In fact, on the contrary, the transgender people I know have paid an unimaginable price to live the normal life they want.
Something interesting is that someone said that, at first, people only knew the natural numbers 1, 2, and 3. Later, people found decimals like 1.2 and 1.3. Then decimals ran out, and you had irrational Numbers like π.
In the beginning, we were only male and female, but perhaps nature has created more possibilities. We can honestly accept more possibilities.
We speak up, not to change the world, but not to be changed by the world.
One day, I read about a sexual assault case on the web, but most of the public opinion on this case pointed the finger at the girl. Why come home so late, why wear so little, why to walk at night?
When the crime happens, Instead of condemning people to bully, helping victims, but sadly away at attack victims? It is unimaginable that after such a painful experience, the victim is often asked by the judge, relatives, and friends over and over again: “What were you wearing?”
There was a show abroad in Belgium which showed the clothes that the girls were wearing when they were raped.
I was born as a girl, and I was told by my parents thousands of times to wear some “suitable” clothes, hang out with “suitable” people, and get home at a “suitable” time…
When I saw the show in Grade 9, I saw a lot of “suitable” clothes like a shirt, jeans, and sneakers. So I was wondering if it is really our fault for giving them the chance to rape us or if we should do some other things to make the situation better.
If it is true that sexual assault is related to clothing, then the place with the highest crime rate should be the beach. However, this is not the case, and it is not safe for girls to wrap themselves up wherever they are.
Therefore, I have done research for what is the valid reason for girls being raped. In 2016, the Washington Post examined the confessions of sex offenders and found that they were more concerned about their behavior when choosing a target. They looked for girls with “superficial ‘lack of presence’ and ‘lack of confidence'” through facial expressions and how they walked. Because they seem to “give in more easily.” As for the clothes the victims were wearing, most said they were not impressed.
Obviously, Attributing the mistake of sexual assault to the victim’s clothing is no doubt an excuse for the rapist and a secondary injury to the victim.
Not only to criticize the girls and keep asking, “What were you wearing on that day?”
The original intention of parents to protect their children in family education is certainly not wrong, but also to deal with the problem from the bottom, more attention is being paid to educating boys how to respect girls or try to make more significant efforts to control the human desire.
So, I wondered if traditional Chinese family education separates gender education too much.
We should think of ways of protection based on respect, not on the grounds of protection to limit the space of freedom.
